Pokemon Card Game - Basic (Base Set 1) Booster Box - 36P11C Review

You all will think I was crazy buying the original Pokemon cards (that hit the market and took it by storm over 10 years ago) in this day and age. Well, I felt simply nostalgic. That's all. I used to be a huge fan of the Pokemon cards. I tried to collect as much of the cards as I possibly could afford. Of course, our money resources were limited back then. But nowadays, it was simply a matter of ordering it from an online website and waiting for a few days for it to arrive. So I patiently waited and waited. And then finally: it took 7 business days to arrive.

I was ecstatic. I purchased a BOOSTER BOX (which I've always wanted given from either Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh) of 36 packs. I was jumping up and down so hard that my family felt it was an earthquake. I couldn't wait to open my box full of cards! But I must say, the booster box was a lot smaller than it actually looked on the website. It was the size of my hand palm (not that it really matters, anyway).

Now I'll admit: the main reason why I bought the basic booster box was because of Charizard. That was (and still is) one of THEE most sought-after cards in Pokemon. I remember back in the day, I saw a place where they were selling single Pokemon cards. I saw Charizard, with a price tag of well over $200 (I think it was first edition). It costed more than a basic booster box, where you COULD get a Charizard out of 36 packs! Whether you get a first edition, normal edition, or base 2nd edition, Charizard is still VERY rare.

Ok, now I'll admit I did not get Charizard out of the 36 packs (and I thought I had a pretty good chance of getting one too). But I did get the following AWESOME holo rares: Alakazam, Magneton, Clefairy, Gyarados (2), Nidoking (2), Venusaur (2), Blastoise, Zapdos, and Hitmonchan. I wasn't THAT close, but hey, I got Venusaur and Blastoise at least! But I do know I missed out on a lot of other rare holos, such as Ninetales, Machamp, Charizard, Poliwrath, and Mewtwo.

But anyway, it may seem silly that I spent about $200 just for a box set of POKEMON cards that are well over a decade old, but I wanted to revive the memories that I had when I used to be a huge fanatic of collecting/trading them. Nowadays, none of my friends have their Pokemon cards anymore. So, of course I haven't told them yet that I have bought a booster box.

But the bottom line is I felt nostalgic. The Pokemon cards, nowadays, are very less appealing compared to the originals (in my opinion). The originals are still the best. And as the saying goes, "The classics are NEVER outdated".

If you're feeling the same as I felt, then go for this basic booster box. Buy them while they're still available in stock, for they are VERY VERY rare and scarce. They are no longer in production, so grab yourself a box while you still can.

K2 Skate Men's VO2 Max 90 Boa Inline Skates, 10 Review

Prior to getting the VO2 Max 90 BOA I was using an older pair of Nike Hockey Inline skates. After trying on the K2s at a local dealer I was hooked. I eventually bought a pair of these online to save a few bucks and Amazon's return policy is a lot better than the local dealer's.

I did a 6 mile trip on an asphalt trail when I first received these. And man do these things glide. Based on Emonodo and MapMyRun apps I shaved almost a minute of my pace for a mile. Yet I didn't feel like I was pushing any harder than before. The 90mm wheels make the ride very smooth. There is a few sections that are about 20yds of concrete slabs that are 3 feet wide with a nice 1/2 inch gap between them. This is on a bridge. Before I'd have a hard time going over this and had to be real careful. With the K2s it was a huge improvement. They were able to get across the bridge no problem. Also, small pebbles and raised asphalt due to tree roots gave me no issue.

The boot is extremely comfortable. I have flat feet so I always pay close attention to arch support on my shoes/skates. After a mile, my arch was feeling a little sore. For now I'll let these break in before making any assumptions when it comes to support. After resting, the soreness went away. If I continue to feel they aren't supportive enough, I'll take the insoles out (yes they are removable) and stick one of my Superfeet Blacks in there to try.

The BOA lacing system is WELL worth the ~$50 more than the non-BOA that come with Speed Lacing (Plus they look better) K2 Skate Men's VO2 Max 90 Inline Skates. I tried the Speed Lacing in the store and while it was a cool system, the BOA is 100 times better. It makes it so easy to get these things on/off. A few twists of the dial and you can feel it snugging against your foot. While skating you can easily reach down and adjust if necessary. When you are done, just unclip the buckle, unstrap the Velcro, pop the BOA dial out, and your foot comes right out.

The ventilation system on these are nice too. When you get up to higher speeds, you can feel the air flowing through. My feet and the inside of the boot were still damp when I took the blades off though. I was also trying a new sock Bauer Core Performance Skate Sock Low [SENIOR] which worked great, so that may have affected the sweating.

Other things to note:

- The boot runs a little big. I normally wear a 8.5-9 shoe. This skate in an 8 worked best for me.
- The replacement brake pads have very mixed reviews. Some say the replacements wear down VERY fast compared to the stock stopper. I've yet to find out but will report back.
- The straps on the front and back of the boot are a nice touch to make it easier to put the boot on.
- If you don't want to use the brake, the skates do come with a replacement axel to use after removing the brake.

This model QT66 Lortone rotary tumbler is quite simple to operate and gives excellent results. It includes two 6 lb molded rubber barrels with quick seal closure. The motor is internally fan cooled. The barrels measure approximately 3 5/8" deep x 5 3/4" diameter (81 x 146 mm). The base measures approximately 11" x 12 1/2" (279 x 317 mm).

LORTONE QT66 Lapidary Rock ROTARY TUMBLER Review

I bought this tumbler to clean my brass shell cases. It's less than half the price of the RCBS tumbler and far better built. It has two 6 inch drums so I can keep cases separated if I want. It does wet or dry media. Using dry walnut shells I haven't needed to turn any case group more than two hours to get them virgin spotless. I don't know how to say enough about this machine. It is simple, well built, quiet (I have it set up in the garage and with the door closed I can't hear it on the opposite wall), and versatile.

I don't believe you'll find a better value for cleaning brass. And it'll even do rocks too which the rotary one from RCBS won't (or not for long).

Best value for the money I've had in a long time. I recommend it to anyone looking for a tumbler.

Aurora 9 2.4GHz Transmitter, Optima 7 Receiver Review

I can't find any other radio with the cost/benefit offered with Aurora 9. Even a DX8 with all it's problems is more expensive than the A9. It's so full of features that certainly will serve any aircraft (who needs up to 9 channels, of course) And what to say about the interface. Touchscreen, wizards, etc... It's so intuitive that anyone who knows the basics about rc airplanes will setup a new model within minuts.
The only drawback I saw until now is related to LRS's (long range systems) like Dragon Link or Chain Link. It causes the display goes off because of the interference. But, who cares? How many people uses LRS's?

I'm very happy and recomend this radio for sure.

Monster High Skull Shores Gil Webber Doll Review

5* doll -* on the third party seller price. People look at the seller not just the Prime/free shipping! Do not buy this doll third party unless you like being gouged.

This doll, like most of the Monster High line is not an exclusive or a limited edition doll. Much like the Spectra doll last year, because it was hard to find was priced out of this world. This doll will probably be back on the shelves in the summer for the $12.99 or $14.99 that I paid for it at Tatget when they first came out. I will also point out that when these dolls were in the store nobody wanted them, to the extent that they were marked down to move them off the shelves, which seems to be a standard trait with the boy dolls including the super desirable (now) Deuce doll, which by the way is of course back on the shelves in the Scaris Travel line.

No one seems to want the boy dolls until they are impossible to find and that in itself makes them rare because the only numbers Mattel sees are from their retail orders and they are always flat with the boy dolls so they make less of them because they don't sell! My advice for ALL of the "retail" MH dolls is to either buy them when you see them or wait them out and refuse to pay the resale prices. There are countless numbers of resellers that literally stalk Amazon for MH dolls, they buy up the entire stock of them to resale (double or more retail) but as with he past two or three releases they are stuck holding dolls they can't move because Mattel is mass producing them so we can usually find them retail if we are patient.

As a collector I know that the exclusive (SDCC) dolls are never, ever going to be $25.00 and I would never wait for them to show up because they only go up in price as time goes by and unlike these dolls they will NEVER be on the shelves or sold by Amazon because they are limited/exclusive editions. These retail dolls are another story, they will (most likely) be back eventually. If your child is an intiteled little brat that stomps her/his feet and gets whatever they want no matter the price well you know how they got that way so pay up and stop whining. If on the other hand your child understands that they can't have everything they want the second they want it, they will probably be able to get these eventually. I hope you have the later ths Christmas, if you do just be honest with the kid from the beginning and let hem know they are being scalped and you are taking a stand against it, if no one buys they stop hoarding to resale (supply/demand) tell them if and when the are back at a fair price they have a xmas IOU on the doll (make a real paper awesome one if possible) How cool is it to get other great stuff now and an extra gift later? Totes cool lol.

Good luck and Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays or bah humbug, whichever fits your situation.
