Prior to getting the VO2 Max 90 BOA I was using an older pair of Nike Hockey Inline skates. After trying on the K2s at a local dealer I was hooked. I eventually bought a pair of these online to save a few bucks and Amazon's return policy is a lot better than the local dealer's.

I did a 6 mile trip on an asphalt trail when I first received these. And man do these things glide. Based on Emonodo and MapMyRun apps I shaved almost a minute of my pace for a mile. Yet I didn't feel like I was pushing any harder than before. The 90mm wheels make the ride very smooth. There is a few sections that are about 20yds of concrete slabs that are 3 feet wide with a nice 1/2 inch gap between them. This is on a bridge. Before I'd have a hard time going over this and had to be real careful. With the K2s it was a huge improvement. They were able to get across the bridge no problem. Also, small pebbles and raised asphalt due to tree roots gave me no issue.

The boot is extremely comfortable. I have flat feet so I always pay close attention to arch support on my shoes/skates. After a mile, my arch was feeling a little sore. For now I'll let these break in before making any assumptions when it comes to support. After resting, the soreness went away. If I continue to feel they aren't supportive enough, I'll take the insoles out (yes they are removable) and stick one of my Superfeet Blacks in there to try.

The BOA lacing system is WELL worth the ~$50 more than the non-BOA that come with Speed Lacing (Plus they look better) K2 Skate Men's VO2 Max 90 Inline Skates. I tried the Speed Lacing in the store and while it was a cool system, the BOA is 100 times better. It makes it so easy to get these things on/off. A few twists of the dial and you can feel it snugging against your foot. While skating you can easily reach down and adjust if necessary. When you are done, just unclip the buckle, unstrap the Velcro, pop the BOA dial out, and your foot comes right out.

The ventilation system on these are nice too. When you get up to higher speeds, you can feel the air flowing through. My feet and the inside of the boot were still damp when I took the blades off though. I was also trying a new sock Bauer Core Performance Skate Sock Low [SENIOR] which worked great, so that may have affected the sweating.

Other things to note:

- The boot runs a little big. I normally wear a 8.5-9 shoe. This skate in an 8 worked best for me.
- The replacement brake pads have very mixed reviews. Some say the replacements wear down VERY fast compared to the stock stopper. I've yet to find out but will report back.
- The straps on the front and back of the boot are a nice touch to make it easier to put the boot on.
- If you don't want to use the brake, the skates do come with a replacement axel to use after removing the brake.
