LEGO Technic Motor Box Review

I liked this motor well enough. It shares a lot of the drawbacks of other lego motors though;

1) It's massive. Really it's huge. I think they got the idea for the shape by looking at the stonehenge.
2) No speed control. Sure, your model can do thirty miles an hour with this motor (exaggeration of course), but do you really need it to? You can gear it down with the gears thare are included, but then you double the already massive size, and you increase the weight of your model.
3) Torque is lacking, unless you gear it.

I tried to build a mid scale (halfway between minifig and technicfig) rock crawler. Because of how high speed the motor is it tended to fly over everything in it's path, and tip over after a foot (I had some cables from another motor kit, but the other review is correct it comes with an 8 or so inch cord). Once I geared it significantly down I got more power but it took way more space and by then the model was so tall that it tipped over a lot. I also found that after two weeks, it "stalls" all the time almost like something inside got burnt out. I still rate this motor highly though, perhaps your model will come alive with it!
