I worked at a toy/collectibles store for 4+ years and in that time saw, played with, displayed, and sold pretty much every toy you could possibly think of, and out of all the toys I own (over a hundred) this is my absolute favorite. It doesn't hurt that I watched Transformers for years and Skywarp is my favorite character (aside from Soundwave). So you can imagine I expected a lot out of this toy (waited for months and months for it to become available in the US).

This is the absolute best version of Skywarp (or any cartoon character) I've ever seen. The scale of it is stunning; (13 inches long with a 9 inch wingspan in Jet mode) and the details on it are above top notch. Every line, tiny detail, ridge, bump, that you would see on a huge expertly made model of an F-15 Eagle (the type of jet he is, for those of you who never watched G1) is present on this toy. He's even got ailerons (the small flaps on the back of the jet's wings that control flight). The only other Transformer with this type of detail is Masterpiece Starscream (Skywarp is a repaint of him).

The construction is very good and sturdy. I paid sixty dollars for mine and am absolutely not disappointed at all with the quality of this toy - I feel that I got what I paid for. In my time at the toy store I saw a lot of products (including resin statues that cost upwards of six hundred dollars) and the detail on this toy is better than some statues costing hundreds of dollars. When I look over at it on its stand (in either mode, jet or robot) if I didn't know it was a toy I'd think it was a statue. He also comes with a stand that stores his extra missiles. Makes an absolutely perfect display piece if you are the type to display it and not play with it (although it should hold up under normal play just fine provided your kid isn't slinging it across the parking lot).

BTW, if you call around to Wal-marts trying to find this....get ready to spend a long time on the phone and make sure you tell them in very exact detail what you're looking for. Right now there's a cheap (and super ugly) version of Skywarp that's twenty-odd dollars at WalMart and unless you tell the sales associate you're looking for the "one with the silver band on the upper right hand corner that says 25th anniversary and it costs sixty bucks" you're likely to get what I did - several trips to WalMart all excited only to find they saw the cheap lame one and thought it was this one.

Now we come to price. Right now, (November 09) this toy is on shelves in Wal-Mart exclusively for sixty dollars retail. The problem is, you may not be able to find it ANYWHERE at retail. I literally called over thirty Wal-Marts before I found one that actually had it in stock (this was a huge Wal-Mart supercenter in North Texas and I was told they only got two of them for the whole store!)

I personally think it is sad that a toy this great is released in such limited quantities that very soon the only way to get it will be by over paying for it from ruthless price gouging sellers who just want to make money off a toy that's already expensive. If you see this toy at a Wal-Mart, GET IT because I guarantee if you don't grab it someone else will, and we'll probably see it on Ebay for twice the real price. Before you spend the $85.00 they want for it here, ask yourself this question: If you want Skywarp bad enough to overpay for it, shouldn't you place some calls to WalMart just to see if it's around before you get jacked?

In conclusion, this is the coolest toy I own (aside from Masterpiece Starscream) and I'm very happy with everything about it. I only wish Hasbro would do these Masterpiece editions with more G1 toys.......and I wish people didn't buy up all the stock and then try to sell it for an insane price.

P.S.:If you really love Skywarp just pay the eighty five bucks. Yes it's a ripoff but it's just gonna get more and more expensive and harder to find the longer you wait.
