I did a considerable amount of research before deciding on an AFX slot car layout for my seven year old son. I also purchased the AFX 4-Way Split and combined the two layouts, thus creating a four lane track on a sheet of plywood covered with indoor/outdoor carpeting. (I learned from experience not to set up any track on regular carpeting as the fibers will wind up in the gears and stop the action.) [...] It took a little time for my son to get use to the controls but soon he had the grasp of it and looks forward to playing with it every day. The cars themselves look fantastic and are quite durable. The Super International layout that I purchased came with four Mega-G cars which are especially fast due to their low center of gravity. (The Super G+ cars are described in the product description of this older version; albeit they are very similar in performance as compared to the Mega-Gs.) After several months, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase; it is a wonderful, engaging toy that captures the imagination and excitement of racing for my son.
