This is a sweet cruiser-style bike; my daughter loved it at first sight (her first pedal bike), and many friends have commented on her elegant ride. "Nice bike!"

She had been more than ready to graduate from her balance bike (which does not have pedals), as she was frustrated with her inability to keep up with her older brother on his BMX bike. So, she was delighted with her new pedal bike, and was able to ride effectively within hours of receiving it (she had already developed her balancing skills with the glider bike).

I chose this bike based on the "cuteness" factor apparent in the photographs, but more importantly, it has a handbrake. Most child-size pedal bikes do not, which is unfortunate, as both my kids learned how to balance and navigate with a glider bike (which are usually equipped with handbrakes). I would like for both my kids to stay current with their hand-braking skills and mindset.

The color scheme is somewhat unusual, orange and white is not typical. The colors are well-accesoried, with the white frame, and the orange highlights on the tires, seat, basket, and tassels. White would not usually be my first choice for color given that it will require more cleaning maintenance, but I haven't had much trouble thus far.

It is a very heavy bike for its size, probably double the weight of the glider bike it replaces. This is not necessarily a bad thing, though; it is built exceptionally rugged, with stamped metal components instead of flimsy plastic for the chain protectors and tire fenders. I think it will easily outlast a term of service with my daughter, after it will pass down to nieces and other family. I expect it to be around for a long time.

Now some bad points; I was unable to maintain tension on the handbrake, and so I took it to a professional bike shop. I was informed that the brake calipers were basically cheap garbage; I replaced them with top-quality components immediately. This was my major complaint about the bike, in that it was shipped with virtually unusable brakes. I subtracted one star from my evaluation for this failure.

The bike did not arrive with any instructions for assembly; it took me some time to figure out how to attach the rear reflector (it slips on the down tube for the bike seat, not the bike frame).

One of the decorative stickers was applied in a "crumpled" fashion; I scraped it off, and removed the adhesive residue with solvent.

The tassels were thin, and began shedding within days. I bought some nice high-quality orange ribbon from a craft store, and replaced them both.

The kickstand is too long, so that the bike stands up vertical, and topples at the slightest touch. I removed it.

Overall, I would call this a quality little girl's bike, much nicer and more elegant than similar models available at the chain stores. I expect many years of good service from it, and then it be an excellent second-hand bike for some other lucky youngster.

Most importantly, my daughter likes it. That's an excellent recommendation, right there.
